Bud Adams and A Brand New Dance...called the Bird!

Okay..Okay..so the Titans owner, Bud Adams did get a little excited and flipped off the Buffalo Bills Fans/Team/Staff in celebration of last Sunday's Titans Win. However, he is 86 years old..and I wonder if he had a small case of "Old Timer's Disease"..because I am pretty sure that in the box with him, was NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell. So surely if Mr. Adams was in his "right mind" he would not have done "the bird dance" in his presence. But he did...and got fined $250,000!

NEW ISSUE: What does the NFL do w/ the money? Does anyone know? Do they need more cash? Are they getting ready to file for Government Assistance? Somehow, I think not. I would like to suggest that they donate the $250,000 to a charity...like the Cure Alzheimer's Fund, (or a Save the Birds fund). I am not suggesting that Mr. Adams has Alzheimer's...I am merely suggesting that the NFL does not need $250,000, and that the fine was excessive. Therefore to donate it to charity would be an excellent gesture. (no pun intended)

I wonder if there are 250,000 Titans Fans? If so...I wonder if we could show our solidarity and support for Mr. Adams..and match his fine...by each of us sending in $1...to a fund..that really could be donated to a charity. By all of us sending $1 it might send a message to the NFL...to follow suit and do the same. As for showing our support for Mr. Adams...I am not saying that we all should advocate doing the disrespectful "bird dance"...I am just saying..that Mr. Adams is 86 years old and he has earned the right to do whatever dance he wants! For those that are so offended...get over it...or do the dance back.

A New Thing...Just Added to my Top 10 Most Memorable/Beautiful Things In My Life

Okay, Okay...I know it's been a while. (Thanks Karina for staying on my tail and being my blog-follower. Love ya!)

It's just like you remember when you were a kid, and you used to say, "I can't wait to grow up and do what I want.". LOL! Sometimes, I would give my eye-teeth...to go back and "WAIT TO GROW UP!" There is not enough time..to do what you want...because all the responsibilities of life get in the way.

Speaking of which...Today, I had the opportunity to be a driver for a Field Trip for my son's 6th Grade Class. The field trip was downtown to the Federal Courthouse to witness the swearing in of New United States Citizens. There were over 41 immigrants being sworn in as citizens. They were from countries all over the World. After the immigrants took their oath, the judge proceeded to welcome the special guest witnesses to the court. He said, "And I would like to welcome our special guests, the 6th Grade Class from Christ the King School". He then asked, "Are there any students in the class who would like to say something to our new United States Citizens?". Well, my 11 year old nephew, Isaiah, was the only one who quickly raised his hand. (Side note: I have been told that he does this frequently, at school, before he is really sure he knows the answer...and sometimes takes a while to think of it.) I was very nervous when the judge said, "You, young man, come up here and say what you would like to say." Well, Isaiah, walked up there, and pulled down the microphone and looked at the new citizens in the jury box and said (I am paraphrasing, as I can't remember it word for word, until I get the transcript.) "I want to welcome you to our country. You know I kinda know how you feel, because I was adopted. My mom did not have any money and could not afford to keep me. So she gave me up to another family who loves me and who I love very much. So it's kind of the same you getting a new country, that cares about you too."

Needless to say, there were not many dry eyes in the courtroom. The judge said, "What a wonderful speech, let's give him a hand." Everyone clapped. When he sat down witnesses of the new citizens were patting Isaiah on the back telling him what a wonderful speech he gave. One man even said, "Young man, it's hard to get a tear out of me, but you did!".

I was shocked and in awe that an 11 year-old child, who I kept having to remind to pay attention, actually stood up in that courtroom and in the most heartfelt and beautiful way welcomed the new citizens, and truly showed them that he understood magnitude and importance of the process in which they just went thru. To be a child and to pull that out to try relate to the new citizens was amazing.

That is why, this will be forever ingrained as one of the Top 10 Beautiful Things I have ever witnessed in my Life.

So today, when I was begrudging the responsibility of having to be a driver on the field trip, (my son didn't want me to drive either...he's a 11 and I am his mother! LOL!) because it took away from the time I dreamt about as a child, "doing what I wanted". It truly made me step back and be thankful for the responsibilities, that I have, and to enjoy the moments as they come. Because had I not gone to this, I could have missed a "once in a lifetime" moment.

It's wonderful to have goals, and to be aiming toward them. And it's great to re-live memories. However, let's not get so caught up in looking toward the future or back at the past, that we forget to enjoy the NOW!

God Bless America and Thank God for Children!

Things I am Thankful for Today

Today I am going to write about the things I am thankful for:

1. The unforgettable everyday "Good Morning Hugs" that I received from Jake (my son, 11).
2. The gorgeous weather that I got to enjoy on my walk. (and of course the beautiful people God created, that I was able to share a path with.)
3. Good Friends, who I was able to break tortilla chips with at Chile Burrito. To have friends, love you unconditionally, and pick up right where you left off... is priceless.
4. Amazing fellow Gold Canyon Demonstrators, who everyday make my job amazing. On team or not..I can not believe that I get to call these amazing women, my peers.
5. Swiffer Sweeper! I own 2 of these..and I truly can not live with out them. Perfect for touch-ups on all hard surface floors. BUY ONE!!! You will see! Got hair? >>> Get a Swiffer/Sweeper!
6. NEW Purex "Detergent/Fabric Softner/Dryer Sheet - All in One!" This make laundry a No Brainer...(hello have I EVER used Fabric Softner?) Bought these for the first time on our vacation..and I am addicted. Throw it in and forget it! I am ALL ABOUT eliminating steps in my day2day operation. :o)
7. My husband, Chris. Nothing is better than when he walks in, and gives me his "I am home Hug/Kiss"...makes me realize that I too...am Home.

What are you thankful for, today?

One simple thing I love...

Today in Nashville it's raining. I don't know about you..but I love when it's raining hard and you drive under a bridge and the rain STOPS! Then when you come out from under the bridge it starts back with a vengeance! I LOVE THAT! I don't know what I love more..the stillness of the bridge, or the ferociousness of the rain when it comes back.

Maybe you could look at life like going under a bridge. You are busy...you are stressed...and if you simply walk under a bridge...and take a breath and let everything become still...you will have the energy to "go after it" on the other side.

So today, if I find the rain is too heavy I will find a bridge and be still...just for a second..then I will get back and enjoy the busy-ness of the pouring rain.

When People Smile

Well here is my first blog. Wish me luck.

The other day I went walking on a beautiful path with a gorgeous views of open fields and a trickling stream on the side. As I listened to my I-pod (k.d. lang to be exact) I was awstuck at how beautiful people are...when they smile. You see when you are walking on a path..with an Ipod on..it's really hard to say, "Good Morning"...because they can't hear you. So the next best thing to do is smile. Therefore as I walked along, each person I met, who may have been panting, as they jogged or strolling along at a nice pace...I would take time to look into their eyes and smile. And they would go from plain looks, to wide-toothy grins. And I was struck no matter what their age was, or physical appearance was...each and everyone one of them was absolutely beautiful when they smiled. My eyes actually watered...at the beauty.

Everyday many of us go through life, without stopping to take the time to really...I MEAN REALLY look at someone (who you don't know) and simply smile at them. I think that if you take time tomorrow..to try that with just 2 people..you will find out how beautiful people are and how they were created. And you know what? They will think you are beautiful too. :o)
